Junip, Temples, You Me at Six, MØ, FM Belfast and Pompeya are added to Positivus Festival line-up, with King Charles and And So I Watch You from Afar returning to the festival stages. Positivus Festival will take place on July 18, 19 and 20 in Salacgrīva.

The melodic folk rock band of José González Junip will engulf the festival guests in the ultimate idyllic summer ambience. Although initially created only as a hobby band by González and two of his childhood friends in the early 90’s, in 2000 Junip re-emerged as a refined, ethereally psychedelic folk rock band. Their highly anticipated and light-heartedly dynamic debut record Fields (2010) became a steadfast music critic and connoisseur favourite. Some of their latest work is featured on “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty” movie soundtrack.

Sixties glam rock with a dash of eastern psychedelia is what Temples are all about. The band caused a serious music scene commotion even before the release of their critically acclaimed debut album Sun Structures in 2014. With Noel Gallagher naming them ‘the best new band in Britain’, Temples have already performed at all the biggest music festivals and played together with The Rolling Stones at London’s Hyde Park.

You Me at Six (YMAS) is currently one of the best British pop rock export bands, with wickedly punkish guitar riffs and excitingly catchy pop choruses. YMAS have conquered the British charts, sold out the Wembley arena and made a gradual transition from hazy pop punk to a more melodic and contemporary rock sound, all while galvanizing audiences at concerts and festivals alike.

One of the hottest emerging Danish indie stars (Karen Marie Ørsted) is often compared to the likes of Grimes, Twin Shadow and Santigold. The hype surrounding the release of her first two tracks led to a record deal with one of the biggest global record labels Sony, who are behind the release of her debut album No Mythologies to Follow (2014).

The playfully mischievous Icelandic synth pop bands FM Belfast are true festival performers, creating uninhibited music for themselves and their audiences. With band members ranging from 3 to 45, depending on whoever is available, FM Belfast are positively unpredictable artists, with a wide arsenal of musical instruments, which sometimes even include a cow bell.

Always an anticipated Positivus Festival guest, King Charles is undoubtedly a beloved artist in Latvia; his heartfelt performances are guaranteed to thrill and inspire his audiences. This summer King Charles will treat the festival guests with new songs from his upcoming album. The singer-songwriter has toured with Laura Marling, last year’s festival headliners Noah and the Whale, as well as Mumford and Sons, with whom he recorded the lyrical ballad The Brightest Lights.

Drawing inspiration from disco, new wave and indie rock, Moscow’s ambitious quartet Pompeya create refined and unabashed pop tracks in English. The band’s music is an organic combination of vibrant harmonies, melodic synth lines and punchy guitar riffs. Having just embarked on their first US tour, Pompeya also impressed audiences at one of the biggest music industry events of the year - SXSW.

The Northern Irish instrumental post rock and math rock band And So I Watch You From Afar (ASIWYFA) will also be returning to this year’s Positivus Festival, having first performed back in 2010. Not ones for making lazy and placid background music, ASIWYFA create an accelerated, dynamic and explosive instrumental mix of tunes that will become part of the perfect festival soundtrack.

The festival 3 day ticket without camping currently costs EUR 57 and a 3 day ticket with camping costs EUR 63. Ticket prices are set to increase.

This year’s Positivus Festival will host:
