Electronic Dance Music Legend Pete Tong Returns to Latvia
Electronic Dance Music Legend Pete Tong Returns to Latvia After more than a ten-year break, the cult figure of electronic dance music, DJ and producer Pete Tong, is returning to Latvia and will perform a DJ set at club “First” on February 6. Tickets for the event available on sale at all Biļešu Serviss ticket outlets and online at www.bilesuserviss.lv. Pete Tong, whose full name is Peter Michael Tong, is a British DJ, producer, and long-time host of the BBC Radio shows Essential Mix and Essential Selection. Often described as a global ambassador of electronic dance music, Tong is also the head of the record label FFRR Records (part of the Warner Music Group), where he focuses on dance music production. Tong was born in 1960 in Kent, England, where he also received his education. His initial musical interest was in drums, but he soon turned to DJing, giving his first public performance at the age of just 15, at a friend’s wedding. Later, Tong created his own mobile disco, opened and managed several nightclubs, and eventually became an advertising sales assistant at the music magazine “Blues & Soul.” This was followed by a position as an A&R (artists and repertoire) manager at London Records, which opened the door to the world of house music and broad opportunities, including work with BBC Radio. Pete Tong is one of the most well-known British DJs and has built a large fan base thanks to his radio show Essential Selection. From 2003 to 2007, Tong was a resident DJ at Ibiza’s Pacha club. In 2008, he signed a contract with the club Eden and launched his “Wonderland” concept there, which ran for three years. In 2011, the DJ announced his return to Pacha along with a new event series titled “All Gone Pete Tong,” which later also became the name of a radio show on the U.S. station iHeartRadio, serving as an American counterpart to Tong’s BBC program. What can we expect from Pete Tong’s Riga set? While many DJs play pre-prepared programs, Pete Tong prefers to feel and adapt to the mood and desires of the crowd. “I see playing as surfing, and the audience is my wave, which I always try to stay in harmony with,” Tong reveals. On February 6, we will meet at an unforgettable party where we’ll discover how Riga sounds and, together with one of the world’s most renowned DJs, immerse ourselves in the flow of electronic music. Lewis Capaldi to perform in Vilnius at the end of May On May 31st, Lewis Capaldi, the performer of megahits Someone You Loved, Before You Go, Survive and Forget Me, will perform at Vilnius' Vingis Park. This will be the only concert of the talented singer and author of emotionally moving songs in the Baltic States. Fans can expect to hear such well-known hits as Bruises, Pointless, Hold Me While You Wait, Grace, Wish You the Best, with which he has already won the hearts of millions of listeners. It is especially significant that after a 2-year break dedicated to improving his health, Lewis Capaldi will go on tour with a completely new passion. His concert schedule shows that many dates are already completely sold out. Including his New York Madison Square Garden show, which sold out in under a minute, and London’s Hyde Park, where an additional date had to be added. The ticket sales throughout the Biļešu serviss network: January 12th, from 10am pre-sale only for www.ltips.lv news subscribers January 14th, from 10am pre-sale only for recipients of Biļešu serviss Entertainment post January 16th, from Public sale will begin at 10am The world first got to know the talent of Scottish-Italian composer, musician and performer Lewis Capaldi in 2017, when the piece Bruises quickly amassed almost 28 million plays on Spotify worldwide, making him the fastest-ever unsigned artist to reach 25 million plays on the platform. However, all this could not have happened at all, because Lewis's father had a vasectomy, so the boy's conception was a real miracle. Little Lewis became interested in music at an early age: a passion for performing started after he sang on stage at the age of 4 and started learning to play the guitar at the age of 9, soon composing his first original songs. Following the staggering success of Bruises, Lewis Capaldi quickly signed a record deal and shot to the top of the pop music world like a rocket — becoming the first artist ever to sell out an arena tour before releasing his full debut album “Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent”. Tickets for the tour were snapped up within minutes, and this historic achievement was entered into the Guinness World Records. There is no doubt that the key single from his debut studio album, Someone You Loved, played a major role in Lewis Capaldi’s global rise. The track charted in 29 countries, spent seven consecutive weeks at No. 1 in the UK, became the best selling British single of 2019, and entered both the Billboard Hot 100 and Canadian Hot 100, cementing Capaldi’s talent on both sides of the Atlantic. "Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent" went on to become the best-selling album of not only 2019, but also 2020 in the UK and Ireland. Lewis Capaldi's second studio album, "Broken by Desire to Be Heavenly Sent" (2023), with the singles Forget Me, Pointless and Wish You the Best, continued the success of his debut, becoming the fastest-selling album in the UK. When asked by NME about the inspiration of the songs on the album, Lewis commented with characteristic irony: "I would go out and look out at the world and what's shit, and then I would write songs pertaining to that". In 2023, Capaldi announced that he was temporarily stepping away from public life to focus more on his emotional and physical health (the artist had been diagnosed with Tourette’s syndrome). The break proved beneficial — two years later, in 2025, Lewis Capaldi made a triumphant return, with audiences responding enthusiastically to his performance on the Glastonbury Festival stage and to his newly released EP “Survive” in November. The album's lead single Survive, in which the artist talks about his comeback and his determination to continue what he started despite difficulties, became his sixth No. 1 hit in the UK chart. The list of awards received or nominated for by Lewis Capaldi includes Grammys, Brit Awards, Scottish Music Awards, Q Awards, MTW Music Awards and many others, thus confirming that he is one of the most acclaimed artists of his generation by critics and listeners. However, the truest testament to Lewis Capaldi's personality and mastery are his concerts. Since he performs songs with all his heart, so moving that there is no doubt about his own experience, while always complementing them with comments full of open self-irony, it is no wonder that many thousands appreciate his extraordinary personality. Having successfully performed in sold-out arenas (the first tour sold out in 1 second before even the release of his debut album) and at major festivals, and having previously opened for stars like Ed Sheeran, Bastille, Rag'n'Bone Man, Sam Smith, Milky Chance, Lewis Capaldi is now embarking on the most ambitious tour of his career — with Vilnius as the only stop in the entire Baltic region.
