Daddy Was A Milkman (real name Ignas Pociūnas) and Latvian guitar virtuoso GintsSmukais continue their creative collaboration, which began after their first meeting inRiga. "I was incredibly lucky to meet an unbelievably talented Latvian guitar magician –Gints Smukais," says Ignas. He first heard Gints play at the Palladium concert hall andwas immediately captivated by his unique guitar style. Since then, their musical dialoguehas evolved into intimate, melodic concert moments where emotional songwriting meetsoutstanding guitar mastery."
I was fortunate to meet an exceptionally talented Latvian guitar virtuoso – Gints Smukais. To me, he is a true guitar wizard," shares Daddy Was A Milkman. "At Palladium, I heardhis playing style for the first time – so unique. I listened to every rehearsal with my eyeswide open, completely mesmerized." The idea of performing his songs in an acousticformat had been with Ignas for a long time, but he was searching for a guitarist capableof holding the audience’s attention for hours with just one instrument. "Gints can do that– and he does it brilliantly. We discussed the idea of playing together, and it all cametogether very quickly," he adds.
Gints Smukais describes their first meeting as an instant creative connection: "Throughconversation, we quickly realized that we share very similar views on music-making, themagic of live performance, and, in general, we both deeply love guitars. Daddy Was AMilkman had long envisioned a duo concert format with guitar, and when he heard meplay, he took it as a sign that the time had come to bring that vision to life."
The concerts will feature songs from Daddy Was A Milkman’s album "Quite Something",released mid-last year, including beloved tracks such as "Breath In", "This Is How I Feel",and "Sleeping Alone", along with special arrangements created by Gints Smukais specifically for this tour.
