The Estonian Museum of Architecture was founded on January 1, 1991, and operates in the Rotermann Salt Storage building, completed in 1908, which is one of the most distinctive examples of industrial architecture in Tallinn.
The museum offers fascinating insights for city residents, children, tourists, and specialists alike.

The Architecture Museum is an important preserver of Estonia’s built heritage. Exhibitions covering local architectural history, international practices, and even the most contemporary architecture still in the conceptual stage offer a way to learn to notice and understand the space around us.

The museum has an impressive and fascinating archive of drawings and projects from the 1920s–1930s as well as from the Soviet period, along with a photo collection and a continuously expanding model collection. A large portion of the models is on display in the permanent exhibition „SPACE IN MOTION: A Century of Estonian Architecture“.

For children, the permanent exhibition “Explore Space!” in the museum’s basement hall is especially suitable for learning to observe the world around them. It won the Museum Rat Award in 2019 for best permanent exhibition.
