The Nouvelle Vague project was created in Paris in 2003 by the talented musicians and producers Marc Colin and the late Olivier Libaut. The original idea was to pay homage to post-punk and new wave music genres and compositions, transforming them into a bossa nova style. The band's musicians and lead singers have changed over the years, but they have always been attractive female voices that have captivated fans around the world.
Their unique approach to modern classics Joy Division, The Cure, Depeche Mode and Blondie has resulted in unforgettable covers of In a Manner of Speaking, Love Will Tear Us Apart and Dance With Me. Over the years, their music has garnered critical acclaim, millions of streams and an ever-growing international fan base, as well as countless accolades for their creative arrangements and atmospheric live performances.
Nouvelle Vague co-founder Marc Collin never imagined that the band would last long enough to release several studio albums. It, like all his musical projects, was intended as a one-off event. "It was just an idea - well, we should create a tribute to the era of post-punk music, and it would be cool to do it in a bossanova style. It's one album. I didn't think it would occupy such an important place in my life. And I definitely don't think that I will talk about it in interviews 20 years later", says M. Kolins.
Nouvelle Vague's latest album, ‘Should I Stay or Should I Go’, continues the tradition of fusing nostalgia with freshness, giving iconic songs a unique sound and a subtly modern vibe. Reliving some of rock music's most famous compositions, the album combines mysterious vocals with sophisticated instrumental accompaniment. This album is both a tribute to the music that inspired them, and a development of the band's artistic activity in a new direction.
