Rapper, singer, producer, and model Lancey Foux (real name Lance O. Omal) was born in Stratford, London, in 1995 to a Ugandan immigrant family. He began his career in 2015, rapping self-written verses over beats found on YouTube. That same year, with a friend’s help in the studio, he recorded and released his first tracks, "Pink" and "TEEN SKUM". Over the next two years he uploaded music to SoundCloud, where it gained recognition, and by his third album "First Day at Nursery" he was already collaborating with UK producer Nyge. A prolific artist, Foux soon joined Skepta on his European tour, having worked together on the track "Dyed 2WICE". In 2019, he performed at the US hip-hop festival Rolling Loud.
After releasing "Friend or Foux", considered his official studio debut, his planned tour was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Still, he continued releasing singles, including "Time For War!i" and "Relax !i", both supporting the Black Lives Matter movement. Around this time, Omal also began modeling for Givenchy, Air Jordan, A-COLD-WALL, and Naomi Campbell’s fashion events, expanding his influence beyond music and cementing his image as a modern style icon.
His international recognition grew with further collaborations—Lil Yachty featured on "Outtamymind!" from the 2022 mixtape "Live.Evil", and 24kGoldn appeared on "Big Swag". In 2023 he teamed up with producers Bally and Jay Trench for a mixtape that defined his unique sound, followed in 2024 by "Conglomerate", created with UK rappers Fimiguerrero and Len.
Lancey Foux’s work, a fusion of hip-hop, grime, trap, and R&B, is marked by inventive production that goes far beyond the clichés of standard rap beats. His often abstract lyrics invite open interpretation, touching on themes of alienation, self-discovery, and the depths of human emotion. His hit "MMM HMM", the lead single from "BACK2DATRAP" featuring Sexyy Red, earned wide acclaim from fans, media, radio, and critics alike, praised for both lyrical and musical growth. Omal has since built a strong reputation with performances across the UK, Europe, the US, and China.
