The annual alternative music festival SATTA is moving to Latvia
Latvia's vibrant music scene will be complemented by yet another music and arts festival this summer. After seven successful years in Lithuania, the annual alternative music festival Satta Outside is coming to Latvia. Set next to the beach of the Baltic Sea, it will take place in Pape from August 14 - 17.
Satta is the leading music event for those interested in music from beyond the beaten path and big headlines. Confirmed artists for this summer's Satta include Kode9, Dirty Beaches, Forest Swords, King Midas Sound, Submotion Orchestra among many more exciting performers that will join the line-up. Several Latvian artists such as Niklāvz, who was the winner of last year’s Satta Beatmakers Battle, also Riga’s “Dirty Deal Audio” crew and other indie electronica acts that will be presented by “The Baltic Scene” will play in the festival as well.
In the previous 7 editions Satta has seen hundreds and international names from eclectic DJ sets and live electronic music to hip hop, dub and post-rock. Musicians like Mouse on Mars, Gaslamp Killer and Low End Theory crew, Hudson Mohawke, Mount Kimbie, Machinedrum, Kelpe and many others have helped to shape the constantly growing musical portrait of Satta.
“We know that quite a few Latvians have been to Satta before in Lithuania and we're happy that we can bring Satta closer to you this year. We have changed festival location before, but this is the first time we will not be in Lithuania. Satta is growing and it is great we can share this adventure with Latvia's alternative music community. Additionally we are working with Pape Nature Park, as nature protection is something we take very seriously wherever we hold an event. ” told Zilvinas Stumbras, the program manager of Satta festival.
Music is the main but not the single most important part of the agenda at Satta. Artists from both Latvia, Lithuania and other countries have augmented the festival since day one, bet that visual stories told in the open air or urban art transferred from concrete blocks to wilderness. This year it won't be any different with a multilayered art program put together by an international team of artists.
